A Guide to Choosing Infant Baby Carriers

Parents need baby carriers because it gives convenience when carrying your baby and allows you to do other tasks because both of your hands are free. Baby carriers also make your baby comfortable and secure. However, if you choose the wrong type of carrier, it will not provide the comfort and the security that your baby needs. Babies need to feel secure and when they are, they are also comfortable and happy. An ideal carrier is one that can hold your baby close to your body with head high enough to be kissed. It is also important that your baby's back and head are given enough support. The ideal carriers are the soft-structured ones because the only thing that separates you and your baby is a soft fabric. If you want to carry your baby close in a womb like swaddle then you can use the wrap style carrier for this. A bigger baby will need a carrier with a wider seat which allows their weight for distribution so that they don't dangle by their crotch.

A baby wrap with a soft material is ideal for a baby because your baby's skin will be exposed to it. The materials should also be breathable to keep the baby cool. If the material is confining and hot your baby will most likely be uncomfortable in it. Choose a breathable material that is strong enough to give support to your baby.

The comfortable position for your baby changes as he/she grows older. Smaller infants feel most comfortable when they are tightly swaddled to their parents in front facing in position. Older babies who have become more aware of their surroundings will most likely enjoy being in a front carry facing out position so that they can see more of the world outside. When babies become toddlers, they will enjoy riding in a backpack style carry position. Soft structure carriers are ideal for all these types.

It is not only the baby's comfort that is important but also the parents' whose job it is to carry baby everywhere. They should also choose something that will be comfortable for them and will not give them unnecessary shoulder, back, and neck strain. Shoulder strain is the usual complaint of baby wearers. In order to prevent this you can purchase a carrier with wide, well-padded straps and a waistband.  Your baby's weight can be supported by a good waistband so that your shoulders will not carry all of it. The more shoulder padding there is, the more comfortable it will be to you. For more information, visit http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2014/03/31/moms-picks-awards-of-2014_n_4967070.html.
